The Falls of Clyde - 1878

The Scuppers moulding is provided with 7 tags per side silver soldered to the underside.  The hull has epoxy resined into it small brass plugs to correspond to each of these, so that they can be drilled and tapped together, to firmly locate and fix the Bulwarks in place with small countersunk brass screws. The Bulwarks and hull plating is in .010" brass sheet that is cut to size with the 'V' shaped cutting tool.  These are then made to conform to the hull sheer, by tapping along one edge with the pane of the repouse hammer to form the gentle curve of the sheer, after which they are tinned at the contact points and soft soldered one to the other to form the hull plating.
