Each section of the master pattern is used to produce a mould by first having a wax skin applied to it’s surface, then provided with a small leak proof box into which it is set, with at least a half an inch clearance all round.  Provision is made with each section of pattern to extend it’s shape by about half an inch by adding waste side pieces, so that the formed metal panels will be slightly larger than needed, for trimming to shape in the final fitting together.
